Take it or Leave it

Advice

When you book a session with me, my biggest piece of advice is to go with the flow. The best photos aren’t always the perfectly posed ones, they’re the ones where your family is simply being you. Whether that’s splashing in the water, running through tall grass, or giggling together in the sand, I want to capture those authentic little moments that tell your story.

Of course, we’ll grab a few classic posed images along the way, but most of the session will feel light and fun. I use gentle prompts instead of stiff poses, which helps bring out natural smiles and genuine connection. And if someone isn’t feeling it (because let’s be real, kids, and even grown-ups, have their moments!), that’s completely okay. We’ll pivot. Maybe explore a new spot, focus on a fun detail, or just take a breather until the energy shifts.

At the end of the day, my goal is for your family to walk away not only with beautiful photos, but with a fun memory of your time together.

EXTRA ADVICE

What to Wear

•Choose coordinating colors, not matching outfits—think complementary tones and textures.

•Avoid large logos or busy patterns that might distract from faces.

•Consider the location and season

•Comfortable clothing is key—if kids are itchy or tugging at clothes, it will show.

Timing

•Golden hour (about an hour before sunset) gives the most flattering light.

•Make sure little ones are well-rested and fed before the session.

Bring Along

•Snacks + water (nothing too messy or staining).

•A favorite toy or blanket for comfort if needed.

•An extra outfit for kids, just in case.

•A few wipes or tissues for quick clean-ups.

Mindset

•Don’t stress if everything isn’t “perfect.” Real moments - the silly faces, the cuddles, the little meltdowns - make for the most heartfelt photos.

•Kids (and adults!) warm up as we go. The first few minutes are just about getting comfortable.

•Focus on connecting with each other rather than the camera.

Final Note

I’ll guide you every step of the way, but the magic really happens when you just enjoy being together. Think of it less as a photoshoot and more as family time with me tagging along to document it.
